Spring is coming and it's a big time of year for Six Ticks Sales and Operations Director Steff, as she'll be taking on the London Marathon in April!

That’s right. By day Steff is a website development and CRM operations mastermind, but by night she’s been pounding the pavement and preparing for the 26.2 mile challenge.

It will be Steff’s first ever marathon, quite a feat when she only took up running two years ago!

Steff will be taking on the challenge in support of Shropshire based deaf and hard of hearing charity Signal, a charity close to her heart having experienced partial deafness herself as a child. The charity works to help people with hearing loss both in the UK and Africa, raising awareness and providing support for people of all ages.

Hearing Tests for Businesses

To help raise funds for Signal, Steff is asking local Shropshire businesses to get behind a great initiative. She’s encouraging businesses to donate to Signal in exchange for a hearing test for employees. 

Steff comments:

“Although I am a little apprehensive about running over 26 miles in one go, it will be so much easier knowing that I am doing it for such an amazing local cause.

"What you might not know is that I was half deaf as a child, and struggled at school so I learned to lip-read. I couldn't balance on a bike by myself until I was about 9 years old. There is a story that my parents always tell me about when I was learning how to ride a bike. I would try so hard, fall off the bike, get frustrated, kick the saddle, and then pick it up and repeat... for hours and hours!

"So, naturally, Signal is a charity that is very close to my heart, and I want to help them by raising as much money as I can. I know that there are so many charity and fundraising requests and it’s hard to sponsor everyone, so I thought I’d offer something a little different to boost my fundraising.

"In exchange for a donation (starting from £100 per business), Signal will come to your premises to perform hearing tests to check that your teams’ hearing is in tip-top shape.

"The importance of hearing tests is often overlooked when they should really be part of our regular health checkups along with eye tests and the dentist. Hearing health is so important and this initiative offers a fantastic way to support the well-being of your staff, whilst also supporting an amazing charity."
