After taking a hiatus in 2021 due Covid-based cancellations, Shropshire Festivals are back to bring about the return of the Shropshire Tasty Trail. Following the development of a new website and the success of the 2020 hike which took place around Haughmond Hill, this year they teamed up with the Oteley Estate to bring the Tasty trail to the scenic location of Ellesmere in early April.

As mentioned previously, we here at Six Ticks offer website design services and created the responsive web design of the Shropshire Festival site on which the walk and upcoming events with the company can be found.

The family friendly walk was a 7.5 mile hike around the panoramic Ellesmere area, letting the attendees take in all the scenery that Shropshire has to offer. After the walk, The Oteley estate gracefully opened up their gardens to allow exclusive access to the attendees to places where the public is usually not allowed to go.

Along the route were 3 stops where attendees stopped for refreshments and food as part of their 3 course meal. The food and drink offered and the local produces who provided for the event are as follows:

  • Stop 1 (Starter): Oteley Beef Brisket with Pale Ale from Joule's Brewery and Ginger Beer from Heartsease Farm
  • Stop 2 (Main): Oteley Beef Su Casa casserole with Haremoon Cider from Oswestry and Lemonade from Heartsease Farm
  • Stop 3 (Desert): Brownie and Ice Cream from The Gourmet Brownie Company and Brooklands Dairy with Afternoon Citrus Grey Tea Liqueur from The Shropshire Distillery and Elderflower Presse from Heartsease Farm

Alongside this the event also offered on-site entertainment with live music and a licensed bar.

Our very own Dee was invited to attend the event and had this to say:

“A great day spent at the beautiful Oteley Estate. Made many new friends, had some great food, lots of laughs and I admired the excellent organisation of the event”.

To see what the event was like watch this short video by the talented Aaron Child of Painted Life Productions (with a cameo by Dee at the 20 second mark).
