Website Refresh For West Mid Showground

It was a delight working with West Mid Showground on their website. Their original website started to get outdated and needed a refresh - which is when Six Ticks came to the rescue with a new web design. The site is full of colour, photographs and is overall a lot more user friendly. The new drop-down menus along the top of the web-page allow the web site to be easy to navigate.

A car boot status at the top of the page is one of the new site's fascinating features. This is a simple and quick way for visitors to determine whether or not the car boots are being held. It also serves as a link to more information on car boots, such as the next one's date, reminders, and frequently asked questions.

Another feature is the ‘what’s on’ page, which allows visitors to view which events are on at the showground throughout the year. The simple website layout allows viewers to see all events on one page.

Showground Hosts Local Events

West Mid Showground is located in Shrewsbury, alongside the river. The ground is run by the Shropshire and West Midlands Agricultural Society, which was founded in the late nineteenth century. The original purpose of the society was to organise the annual agriculture show but has come along way since then. Not only does it still oversee the maintenance of the ground and stage the county show but it hosts some of the biggest events in the region. The grounds are home to big events including: Shropshire County Show, Shrewsbury Live and the Bonfire and Fireworks Spectacular. The 100 acre land also welcomes campers and motorhome and touring vans with electric hookup, toilets and shower facilities.

The Society and Showground place a strong emphasis on community and charity. Part of the society is dedicated to supporting the local rural community with The Rural Charity -from donating gardening supplies to community groups to sponsoring The Shropshire Federation of Young Farmers. They also run five charity shops in Shrewsbury and the surrounding areas to raise money for the good causes.

Ian Bebbington, West Midlands Agricultural Society CEO, said:

“It was great to work with Steff and the team at Six Ticks and listen to their ideas for a website revamp that would pull everything we offer together and make it more informative and easily usable for our visitors and clients.”
