In this week's blog, Shropshire's web, mobile app, and CRM developers Six Ticks share how our innovative approach to projects is helping our clients to prosper.
Six Ticks are not your ordinary IT company. We don't do 'one-size-fits-all' products. We build and develop bespoke innovative enterprise-level solutions for SME's to help them have systems which work for them.
Indeed, our 'Six Ticks' are at the very core of everything we do. We always promise to be:
We don't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to IT, and we love it when businesses come to us with problems or ideas that need solving.
We know that every business is different so we mix our own technology, completely innovated by us, with proven methodologies, to design accessible and user friendly solutions for SMEs that fit around the way a business works, rather than trying to fit a business into a pre-defined system, (square pegs don’t fit in round holes!).
We've been ticking all the boxes for clients since 2012 and our recent innovations include:
We love using innovation to solve problems, so when Shropshire Partners in Care (SPIC) told us about a big problem which was slowing down the care industry and impacting the quality of patient care, we got straight to work on a solution.
The Care industry faces big challenges. Budget cuts present financial challenges, the desirability of work in the sector presents recruitment challenges, and a shift in the average age of the population is increasing demand.
SPIC provide a member scheme, part-funded by local authorities, to support care homes with a range of schemes from advice to training.
A key problem currently faced by hospitals, commissioners and care organisers, is the vital time spent ringing around care homes to identify bed availability suitable for each patient.
To manage this process SPIC kept a manual log of bed availability across the county. Creating the log meant phoning all of Shropshire's care homes multiple times each week to check the record was up-to-date. The data was manually distributed, but was always a few days out of date and using a large amount of resource to execute.
Enter Six Ticks.
Our phones are rarely more than three feet away and with a large proportion of the care workforce being mobile, we knew a mobile app was the best way to share information on bed availability and speed up this process.
With Six Ticks' mobile app, Shropshire's care homes can now login into the app daily and update their own bed availability within a few taps. The app is connected to a bespoke Six Ticks CRM system, allowing SPIC staff to intervene when necessary. It also automatically reminds members if they have not updated their availability, and alerts SPIC of periods of inactivity.
The ground-breaking feature of the app is the 'Live Bed Checker' which provides hospitals, commissioners and other care organisations a live and easy-to-access list of accurate bed availability, coupled with GPS functionality to show each location’s distance from the user's current location. Users then simply tap to get contact details for the home in order to arrange immediate care for their patient.
The app is the first of its kind in the country and the live bed availability checker is a game changer for the industry that will crucially help to facilitate care to people in their time of need by streamlining the process of discharging patients from hospital to social care organisations.
The app is now being rolled out to all social workers, hospitals and commissioners in Shropshire to put this vital information literally at their fingertips.
Six Ticks, in coordination with SPIC, plan to roll this solution out to other providers beyond Shropshire, with a Shropshire-born solution tackling a well-discussed, national issue.
